Fellow reader Naomi sent us an email saying she had a chance to meet Nathan Adrian in the Golden Goggle Awards back in November. She had the chance to meet other Olympians as well in the wonderful city of New York City. Talk about an adventure! You can read her story below.
November 19th 2012! The day I met Nathan Adrian.
If you have met Nathan Adrian, feel free to contact or email us about your story. You just might be featured on our website!
Nathan Adrian was honored for the male race of the year for his gold medal in the 100-meter freestyle at the Golden Goggle Awards last night at the Marriott Marquis in New York. Asiance Magazine managed to get a question to ask Nathan while he was bombarded by fans and press.
What is the most important thing that you think your “Chinese Tiger Mom” taught you?
If you've seen the webcast, then you know that Nathan made a shout out to his mother. It seems like Nathan is very appreciative of what his mother has done for him throughout his life. It is so cute and nice to hear that Nathan loves his mother very much!

Nathan Adrian won the "Race of the Year" award for his 100-meter freestyle in the Golden Goggle Awards earlier tonight at Marriott Marquis in Manhattan, New York on Nov. 19, 2012. We had found a lot of photos on Twitter and Instagram and posted them onto our photo gallery. There is a huge chance that there will be more later tonight, so we will continue to try to update them as we see them. For now, enjoy the photos, and congratulations Nathan for winning!
Jeff Commings from Swimming World gave his own thoughts yesterday about who will win the "Male Performance of the Year" in tonight's Golden Goggle Awards, which takes place in the Marriott Marquis of Manhattan, New York.
As for the Male Performance of the Year, the choice might be a little easier. Nathan Adrian's 100 free, Matt Grever's 100 back, Tyler Clary's 200 back, Michael Phelps' 200 IM and Ryan Lochte's 400 IM marked five of the six individual gold medals among the American men (Phelps' 100 fly being the other.) Hmmm ... on second thought, it might be just as difficult as the women's category. My pick: Adrian. It was the one race among these nominees that no one in the general media or swimming community thought was possible, even as we talked about James Magnussen's vulnerability. It vaulted Adrian from also-ran to the top of the mountain, and it's likely he'll stay there through Rio, even if Magnussen finds his footing again.
Stay tuned tonight at 7 p.m. ET on USA Swimming's webcast of the Golden Goggles Awards to see who really has what it takes! Also, please follow our Twitter @NathanAdrOnline for any live updates or retweets regarding the Golden Goggles.

With the Golden Goggle awards coming on Nov. 19 in New York City, USA Swimming had recently closed the public polls for people to vote, but it appears that Nathan Adrian is the best choice for Male "Race of the Year" award, according to Yahoo! Contributor Sandra Johnson.
Other swimmers nominated include Phelps for the 200-meter individual medley, Lochte for the 400-meter individual medley, Matt Grevers for the 100-meter backstroke and Tyler Clary for the 200-meter backstroke. Adrian was nominated for his 100-meter freestyle. All of which won gold in their respective events at the London 2012 Olympic games.
Adrian's 100 freestyle was the most extraordinary. He won over the heavy favorite James "The Missile" Magnussen of Australia by one-hundredth of a second. It was hard to tell who won until you see the scoreboard in the end.
